Intro to the Raspberry Pi

The Raspberry Pi is the best selling computer in the world and one of the workhouses of the Maker movement. This small, inexpensive single board computer is capable of running Linux and controlling sensors and motors with its onboard I/O pins.

This beginners, hands-on class will teach the basics of setting up a Raspberry Pi, how to interface the Pi to various sensors and external devices, and explore the uses of the Raspberry Pi.


Cost: $50 (materials not included)

Materials Cost: $80 for a Raspberry Pi Model 3 B+ kit

Limit: 8 people

  1. I have a Pi Model 3 B but not sure which kit I would need. Can I buy just the kit to go with my Pi for this class?

    1. The kit basically has the power supply, SD card, HDMI cable, and a case; so if you have your own power supply and an SD card you’re okay to bring you own Pi. We will supply monitor, keyboard, mouse and cable for the class. I also recommend bringing your own laptop. We’re getting the kits off of amazon, so it would be hard to split up.
